I design and build the systems small companies rely on — the till, the stock count, the site customers find you through — and then I keep them running. No templates, no agency layers, no monthly fee for something that should simply work.
A point-of-sale and inventory system running across five branches. Sales, stock movements, production, deliveries and purchasing all sit in one place, so head office can see what every branch holds without ringing round. Rebuilt from a single-machine desktop program into a browser-based system the whole business shares.
An unsolicited concept. Nobody commissioned it and nobody has approved it: I liked the property, thought the booking journey deserved better, and built a proposal to show what I mean. The site walks a guest through one day at the resort — waking up, playing the course, eating, getting there — instead of listing facilities. Every photograph and price on it is taken from public material and should be treated as illustrative. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the resort, and it is not the live site.
Another unsolicited concept, and this one has a reason beyond taste: the business has no website at all. A Facebook page with 14,000 followers is the entire front door — every rate, photograph and enquiry runs through it — and its reviews tab is currently carrying posts impersonating Meta takedown notices, the kind written to take a page off its owner. So the concept builds a front door they control, and keeps the thing they already do best: a stables that opens by telling you plainly what it is not. This site. A static build with no database and no page-load JavaScript, served from a container on my own hardware and published through a Cloudflare tunnel. It exists partly as a working demonstration: a small site should load instantly and cost almost nothing to run.
A small self-hosted journalling app, built because every option on the app store was either advertising-funded or a subscription. Python front to back, no accounts, data stays on the machine it runs on.
Most sites are slow because of what was bolted on, not because of what they do. Mine are built as plain files where they can be, so they open before a customer has decided to leave.
You should be able to change your own prices and opening hours without emailing me. Anything you will need to edit weekly, you get to edit yourself.
The person you talk about it with is the person who writes it, puts it live and answers the phone when something looks wrong. Nothing is passed down a chain.
Every job is different, so these are starting points rather than quotes. You get a written scope and a fixed price before anything is agreed, and the price does not move unless the work does. The services page lists every tier, the monthly care plans and the third-party costs in full.
For a business that has a Facebook page and nothing else. One considered page, or a small handful, that tells someone what you do, where you are and how to reach you.
For a business the website has to earn its keep for — enquiries, bookings, a menu or catalogue that changes, or a shop.
Point-of-sale, stock and inventory, deliveries, internal tools — the software a business actually runs on. Scoped properly before anyone commits to a number.
Hosting, backups, updates, uptime monitoring and small changes as you need them. Optional, cancel whenever — but most people want the person who built it to still be the person who looks after it.
A read-through of the web POS turned up a browser checkbox that could silently disable the counter, a payment box that took any number without asking, and a back button that closed the shop mid-shift — plus two bugs I wrote while fixing them.
